David Paine
Head of Real Estate Investments
David joined Standard Life in 1982 and has been with Standard Life Investments since its inception. He is extensively experienced in all aspects of real estate investment management and development of real estate assets. David has been responsible for fund establishment, development management, fund management and business development into new markets. He heads up our real estate team which comprises over 120 investment and real estate specialists based in Edinburgh, Toronto, Paris, Boston and Hong Kong. The team is responsible for managing direct, unlisted and listed real estate exposure on behalf of their clients with the aim of delivering excellent investment performance and client service.
Mike Hannigan
Head of International Real Estate and UK Group Funds
Mike joined the real estate industry in 1987 and is experienced across all areas of investment, fund management and development. He joined Standard Life Investments in 1991 and is responsible for managing and developing our international business as well as the Heritage With Profits Fund.
Mark Watt
Head of UK Institutional Real Estate Funds
Mark joined the real estate industry in 1989 and is experienced in direct real estate investment, development and asset management across all commercial sectors of the UK market. He has held a number of roles within the real estate team, and is currently responsible for the team that manages our core third party UK institutional funds including the UK Shopping Centre and Retail Park Trusts, the Long Lease Property Fund and several segregated mandates.
Daniel McHugh
Head of Continental European Real Estate
Daniel joined the real estate industry in 1994 and is widely experienced in European and UK real estate investment and development. He joined Standard Life Investments in 2000 and has worked in investment, development, asset management and fund management for a number of our funds. Daniel is currently responsible for all our Continental European business and is based in our Paris office.
Anne Breen
Head of Real Estate Research & Strategy
Anne manages the output of one of Europe’s leading real estate research teams. The team’s activities include forecasting UK, European, Asian and North American real estate markets. Her team also provides strategic input for all of the 19 different real estate vehicles we manage including investment in listed and co-mingled real estate vehicles, as well as the tactical use of real estate derivatives.
Paolo Alonzi
Head of Real Estate Finance & Operations
Paolo is a qualified Chartered Accountant and manages a multi-disciplined team within the real estate business covering product finance, tax and structuring, governance, insurance, decision support, health & safety and real estate operational support. Since joining Standard Life Investments in 2003, Paolo and his team have played a key role in deal and fund structuring and more recently in providing finance and operational support to the real estate business.
