As one of the largest institutional investors in the UK, it’s only fitting we should have a dedicated sustainable and responsible investment team to focus on developing and implementing a professional approach to the field.

A reputation that opens doors

Our financial strength and professional reputation encourage companies’ management to consider our views, and take them into account where possible.

Our sustainable and responsible investment team works closely with all the companies we invest in, promoting best practice standards. Companies are required to demonstrate that they manage their social and environmental impacts effectively. By holding frequent one-to-one meetings with company management we’re able to raise any concerns with them directly. We also publicise our concerns where appropriate – you’ll find examples of this in the documents section.

David Scott

SRI Researcher

David has an honours degree in Economics and Geography from the University of St Andrews and an MSc in Ecological Economics from Edinburgh University. Before joining the SRI team at Standard Life Investments, he gained experience in corporate actions and stock lending at Ignis Asset Management.

Andrew Mason

SRI Analyst

Andrew has a master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Edinburgh and a post graduate diploma in Sustainable Business from the University of Cambridge. Prior to joining Standard Life Investments, Andrew worked on the development and implementation of environmental, social and ethical risk policies at the Royal Bank of Scotland and led the Group’s relationship with key stakeholders on sustainability issues. He also chaired a working group of the Equator Principles (EPs) and was active in the UK Network of the UN Global Compact.
