Our expertise: collectively better

Since its launch in 2004, our Global Index-Linked Bond Fund has been managed by Jonathan Gibbs. He brings a wealth of experience to leading our real returns team: prior to joining us, he spent four years with the Bank of England and six years working at Henderson Global Investors. Overall, he has over 20 years’ experience in the industry, much of it managing index-linked strategies.

We do not, however, subscribe to a 'star fund manager' approach to investing - our investment process is collaborative and team focused. In leading the Fund, Jonathan is supported by our real returns team which comprises two dedicated real-returns specialists, Katy Forbes and Adam Skerry. There are further deep resources for our real returns team to draw on as shown in the chart below.

The real returns team works within our fixed income team, which includes experts on corporate bonds as well as government debt. It also works closely with our multi-asset investing team and strategy group. The teams pool their expertise and share views on matters such as inflation, interest rates and wider trends in the global economy. This enables the real returns team to cover every major fixed income market. Given this team’s global mandate, they consider these inputs and use flexibility to invest wherever they see the best returns.
